11th October 2009 - Neal Garratt - But God...
Neal looked at Ephesians 2 vs 4 – “But God being rich in mercy because of his great love with which he loved us….”
Neal showed the video about Cardboard Testimonies. You can see the video on the Chesterfield Church In The Peak website, on the Videos page (see link below).
Questions.
1. “But God” are perhaps two of the most important words in the new testament – do we fully understand just how important they are in each of our lives? How should that importance affect our evangelism?
2. When Stephen was stoned he said” Lord do not hold this sin against them” – Pauls conversion in Acts chapter 9 is a wonderful way of seeing a “But God” moment and Stephens prayer answered – this leads Paul to say that ” Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all” – This should give us all hope for our own sinful lives – but does it?
3. Pauls use of language in Ephesians is important – He wants us to know that God is “Rich” in mercy – he has a “Great” love for us and later in Chapter 3 that he is able to do “exceedingly adundantly” beyond all that we ask or think – How does this change our view of God – Does it give us a better perspective?
4. We heard some great testimony on Sunday – think about your own testimony and how God came and met you – your “But God” Moment, or two or three….. What should our response be?
5. We heard from Colossians 2 vs 10 that Paul writes ” In him you have been made complete” – what does that mean for you individually and how should that affect our lives on a daily basis?
6. Read Titus 3 vs 4-7 and be blessed!!
