20th September 2009 - Dave Harper - Vision (part 2)
Dave continued looking at the passage in Isaiah 41:17-20 which is about God meeting people in a desert place by bringing water to refresh and replacing the barren place with a garden of trees. It is a wonderful picture of a God who loves and cares and answers the cries of his people, he truly is a good shepherd.
Last week we looked at two situations where God acts by pouring out water in the barren place
1 He gathers in His strays and puts them in his family, the church
2 He saves a lost generation (Isaiah 44:3)
This week we looked at three further cases of how God can meet us in a wilderness place
3 He brings revelation through His word and by His Spirit to help us see the root of our problem and sets us free as we respond
4 When sin has got a hold on us and we are silent, he brings revelation to show us our sin and our need to repent and as we acknowledge our sin and confess it to Him, He forgives us. Blessed indeed are we .
5 Isaiah 35: 5-6 (ESV) declares that when God pours forth his water in the desert there is healing and signs and wonders
The questions this week are taken from Psalm 32 which is David’s account of coming out of a desert place:
QUESTIONS
There are just two question areas
Read Psalm 32: 3-5. Why did David have no escape from his turmoil? How bad was his turmoil?
What brought the release?
Psalm 32: 6-10 paints a picture of a man’s response to a place of pressure and difficulty.
· What picture words does David use in verses 6 and 7 to help us enter into his world?
· What assurance is there in the passage that God will lead him through?
· What does David have to do?
Application/Prayer
Clearly if this brings out some honesty or openness , pray with the person concerned
Pray for God to pour out water on barren land , in the church and in our communities
