Church in the Peak has a vision to plant churches across the Peak District and beyond. Having already planted a church in Buxton we are now planting a church in Chesterfield.
The Towns History
Chesterfield is a market town situated just of the M1 motorway and on the edge of the Peak District. It has a history from Roman times and has been a market town for about 800 years.
The town's population is now around 100,000 people and has recently benefited from large investment in the town centre and surrounding areas as local industry has changed.
Coal mines and the steel works have disappeared and new firms such as those in the information technology sector and large distribution centres have located here.
Church Planting
Church in the Peak has a growing number of people in Chesterfield and Sunday meetings began on 11th May 2008.
Our vision is to see the groups grow as they express Gods love to the people of the town through personal evangelism and outreach events. We would like to see Christians in every area of the town reaching out to their neighbourhoods and see God change individuals, families and whole communites with His love.
Chesterfield Church in the Peak is lead by a team of three and is apostolically overseen by Dave Harper who is based at Church in the Peak, Matlock.
The Chesterfield church plant meets on Sunday mornings at 10:30am, at the New Street Centre, CSG Bodyshop Business Park, New Street, Chesterfield, S40 2LQ tel 01246 557 429. |
